Dogs and other beloved pets – within a seemingly endless variety of breeds, can be found an endless spectrum of character, personality and spirit that is always challenging and thrilling to draw in charcoal.

Why charcoal? It is the most ancient and simple of drawing tools, yet is capable of capturing an exquisite depth of feeling and expression, that can render a subject with an atmosphere and complexity all of its own. In charcoal there is versatility and forgivingness, a subtlety and boldness, and I simply love using it to draw dogs, and other creatures.
